Domestic solar heating systems in the main rely on two types of roof mounted collectors, either tubes or flat plates. The choice of system is influenced by a number of factors such as roof direction, roof design, roof size, and shadowing, usual number of occupants, current heating system, current cylinder design, space considerations and even water hardness.
